Biography
Bronwyn has been running since she was six years old, however she only really established herself as a road runner back in two thousand and five aged twenty one. This was the year she made her debut in the Gloucestershire village of Frampton-On-Seven's annual 10K road race, held during the summer, the youngest competitor in the field following being spotted by a friend of hers when she was out training one morning.
Her half-marathon debut then followed that autumn in her home town's half-marathon, that she really participated in for the benefit of Moorfields Eye Hospital, a renowned specialist hospital of the eye in London where she had been a patient during her infant and early childhood years. Successfully completing the 13.1 miles (21.1 kilometres) she was able to secure an astonishing total of £1,474.50 for the research centre at the Richard Desmond Children's Eye Centre, the hospital's new facility solely devoted to the prevention, treatment and cure of eye disease in children.
Two years on from making her half-marathon debut, having continued to train and race finding the experience of her first half-marathon most inspirational she then stepped onto the international stage for the very first time to make her international debut in Sweden in the seventh staging of the Stockholm Half- Marathon, St. Eriksloppet as it was known back then.
With seven thousand participants from all over the world taking part, the race was one of the largest of its kind she had ever participated in. Unfazed by the competition and the pressures of competing at international level which can be considerably demanding she succeeded in securing a place in her first full marathon. Following her marathon and international marathon debut eight months later, that she returned to the Swedish capital for the Jubilee staging of, she now competes in the marathon at international level and is continuing to grow from strength to strength as an athlete.
In two thousand and twelve before the olympics returned to London, she participated in a reconstruction of the nineteen twelve Olympic marathon running the original distance and over todays distance (the modern distance) she also has a hatric of PB's (Personal Best's) amongst her achievements too, that were achieved in challenging conditions. She has also raised an additional £1,500.00 for the hospital's children's work, its research work and to part fund a new children's Accident and Emergency department inspired by a tour of the Children's centre she was given in two thousand and seven.
